As with other kinds of lawsuits, they are likely to include medical expenses, lost income, out-of-pocket expenses, and property damage. However, they also may include significant non-economic damages, such as pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, mental anguish, permanent disability, disfigurement, and loss of consortium. The value of the non-economic damages may be higher because the injuries are catastrophic.
